Religious School

Baruchim Habaim — Welcome.

Your child’s primary religious educator is you.

“A man once came to the Kotsker Rabbi and complained that his son did not want to learn Torah.  He asked the rabbi, ‘What should I do?’  The Kotsker Rabbi told him, ‘If you force your child to study Torah, he will study Torah as long as you make him do so.  And, in fact, he will grow up and make his child study Torah in his time.  ‘However, if you devote yourself to Torah study, soon you will find your child by your side, asking to study with you.'”

The curriculum is outstanding, the materials cutting edge and the faculty are newly energized. Still, the most important facet in your child’s education is you.  You have cared enough to send your child to a quality school; these are ways to ensure your investment is as productive as it can be.

Seek out personal Jewish growth within our community.  This involves study, worship and tzedakah.

Make your home match the values taught.  Making a sukkah, taking an active interest in your child’s studies, celebrating Shabbat, preparing a Temple backpack – these are all ways to fortify what we do here.  We are on the same team.

May this be a year of growth, blessing and holiness for us all.

B’shalom,

Rabbi G.

Welcome to the Education Center at Temple Beth Hillel!

We are so glad you are a part of our congregation and your children are part of our Religious School. TBH is a community, where everyone learns and where everyone has a chance to have fun. Our students of all ages and abilities feel that TBH is a safe place, where they are free to explore what being Jewish will mean to them.

We have many goals, but they can all be distilled to three ideas:

  • We want every learner to develop into a Jewishly literate adult.
  • We want every member of TBH of every age to see themselves as lifelong learners, on a Jewish journey with the rest of us.
  • We seek to build relationships—among children AND among adults—because we believe that community comes from strong relationships.

Seek out personal Jewish growth within our community.  We ask for your active participation in our school — as an adult learner, as a fellow worshipper and as someone building a stronger congregation – engaged in Tikkun Olam -repairing the world.

We each may find a different piece of that puzzle to embrace, and we ask you to let us help you find yours!

The Family Handbook will take all of this into greater detail.

It discusses how and what we learn and teach, when we meet, how we respond to learners with special needs and will answer many of your questions.

Feel free to call – email – or stop in to meet our Clergy.

Baruchim Habaim — Welcome.

B’shalom,

Cantor Harris
